Runing The Big Ten 10k Again

I was happy to run the Big Ten 10k with my friends from Michigan State University again this year. Next year we are likely to take our run back into the state of Michigan. I am not sure why we wanted to run again in Kentucky as it is warmer than Michigan. I guess they had so much fun last year that this was a good place to run the event.

I started running the Big Ten 10k run in 2020. It was virtual. I did go with one of my buddies and my son to Chicago in 2022 to run in person. I have also run the event on the campus at Michigan State University and as far away as Vermont and Pennsylvania. If I am counting correctly, this is my seventh time running the Big Ten 10k run. I enjoy participating with others from my University in the Big Ten Conference. Go Green!
My buddies and I are part of the alumni marching band, and while they were in town we played our trumpets to get ready for that event. After our run we enjoyed a celebratory steak dinner. We looked good prior to the run. It was important to get right in the showers after the run.

Other fun:
I took my buddies disc golfing. They did well. I have played with them before. I do recall that in college we played a lot of Frisbie and played a game like disc golf.

Part of my training for the Big Ten 10k was running the Redlegs run in early June. I liked the event because we finish the run inside the stadium in Cincinnati and it helps acclimate me to the warmer weather running. I saw several friends from my running group also doing this event.

As part of the Redlegs event we went to the runner’s appreciation game the next Monday. It was fun to walk around downtown, and it was a beautiful night watching a game that the Reds won handily.

No bike rides this adventure. See you on the road.
