Our daughter asked us to come to Cherryville for her birthday. So, we did. It was fun to be in Cherryville. On the way we stopped in Tennessee to rest up before the I-40 construction and had our picture taken “with” Dolly Parton. The highway will take quite a while to get restored. We have determined to go this route during the lengthy construction while choosing to come and go at times we think will not be too busy. One lane highways can stall out quickly, and we have waited to move for over an hour on this route once or twice. It is still worthwhile in our opinion.

Once we made it to Cherryville and were all settled, we were able to spend time with our daughter and son-in-law. We enjoyed walking and hiking. We explored Cherryville and hiked on Crowders Mountain State Park. I am glad to be able to hike on a mountain. The views are nice and the kids are in great shape. We are doing well ourselves.

We did run together. It is April, and I am getting ready for my half marathon in a few weeks. We also spent time in and around the house chatting, doing some yard work and playing games.

The Charlotte minor league hockey team was a fun night out. I am glad that it was planned. I had not been to a minor league hockey game in a while, and it was enjoyable. The crowd was enthusiastic and the team won!

Other Fun: Getting ready for July fourth and the 250 years of the United States of America, we saw the musical 1776. It was a terrific production and got us in the mood to celebrate our country’s birth!

Our county celebrated early for July fourth. It was wonderful to see a band concert and hear some about businesses in the area.

Prior to the trip to Cherryville, we took a day trip to Yew Dell Gardens in Louisville. We enjoyed walking around the gardens and seeing all that was blooming. It is a lovely setting, and we did see preparations for a wedding in progress.

No bike adventures on this trip. I went running, hiking and walking instead.
See you on the road.

Nice story, Glen! I’m glad to see you and Kim out and about. It’s good for the soul. Kathy and I retired last summer and have never looked back! Life is good.
Peace,
Chuck
